Every time I try to save a project It takes AGES!!!!!! It's really annoying me. Right now I am typing this whilst I wait for it to hurry up. Anyone know why?
It won't even close, It just sort of freezes but you can still minimize it.

Long scripts? Large sound/graphic files? Or maybe just a slow computer..? It could be a few things. If you have a lot of sound, try taking it out for now, then putting it back in when you have more time. As for lots of graphics, remove extra costumes and backgrounds... For long scripts (particularly with "forever" loops), try making a lot of shorter scripts. As for a slow computer... can't help you there

No sound, Each sprite has 1 costume. There are 2 backgrounds. My computer is quite new and It's not slow with anyting else. Can't see if it's got loads of forever things 'cos it's still loading...

Well, it could just be the program, but as long as Scratch works, you should just put up with it... I mean, as long as there is no harm done...

That's odd... do you have many other programs running? Some programs on my computer (eg, Windows Media Player, GIMP) make Scratch run slowly because they use up a lot of space... if you have a lot of other programs running (or memory-intensive ones), try closing them...
How many sprites do you have? If you have a lot, they might make it slow down, too.

I know, but if you look at the time is sent the first post. It just finished loading 5 mins ago.

Just the internet. I have 31 sprites and I just got rid of half the forever blocks, saved, and am now waiting.

Very odd indeed... I sometimes find that my computer is slow some days for apparently no reason... maybe that's what happened - are any other programs slow when you open them?

Not really. It just seems to be scratch. I've had to put up a tab with a website of jokes to keep me entertained whilst I'm waiting, but some of those bee jokes are getting on my nerves.

I'm not sure...
Do you have any other places to save it to (EX, a USB drive, or an alternative hard drive)? Try saving it to there, and see if still saves slowly. Report back to us when you're done![]()
Still slow... In fact, It seems to be even slower that way. I bet that there is something really simple that I'm missing here.

So... what should I do? I haven't been on that project since I tried to save it.

I haven't got acess to another computer right now.
It's just the one project that saves slowly.

Hmmm I don't have that problem.

It's just the one project that saves slowly. If it's such a small project, why not just make it again?
What? Maybe s/he worked hard on it >.> And maybe it was just still a small file.

Even if there were lots of scripts, I'm afraid there is no alternative.

True.
That's happened to me before. It was really upsetting.

Ok, maybe I'll just give up on it. I really can't be bothered to do it all again. I never was that keen on this project I just did I because I couldn't think of anything else.

No wait, I have an idea...
Click on the small Scratch Cat icon in the top left of the window, and the bottom option is "VM Preferences." Go onto VM Preferences, and go to "System Configuration" and then click on "Reduce background CPU usage."
If it doesn't work, change it back immediately...
