Re: Hide post counts

User Titles and Ranks are the same thing. Maybe it was you who didn't read the thread I linked to. There's no possible way to do what your suggesting, the forum can't do it.

Maybe...

-Beginning Scratcher
-Scratcher
-Frequent Poster
Those are four simple ranks that would give a good indication (provided the elements above are taken into consideration) of a Scratcher's reliability. Questions? Comments?

Yeah, I partially agree, but people might want to post more to get up to a higher rank. It would probably not be as bad as things are now though.  wink

BUT THAT WOULD'NT BE THE ONLY FACTOR. If possible, I think a feature like the "affirm tag" feature should be implemented in the forums. If someone has a useful and relevant post, a user could click affirm post. That would also prevent spam.

You have no idea what you are talking about! Flux BB is OPEN SOURCE. How do you think half the features got added? The Scratch Team modified the source. That's the only reason that we have forum blocks, because the SCRATCH TEAM EDITED THE SOURCE.

Re: Hide post counts

Hey, if you want to suggest that, do it in your own topic, but I'm sorry to tell you that it would be pointless, because that feature is not available in the current version of FluxBB that this forum runs on. This is just to discuss whether or not we should remove post counts, and I don't see what user titles have to do with this.
If they can modify the source, why have they not done so already to fix this problem? We wouldn't be debating about it.

Have you been reading the topic? The only thing going for post counts is that Scratch Forum users like to be able to rank another users accuracy by their post count! That's why ranks have been suggested before in this topic.

Have you seen the highest posters? If I was as accurate as my post count was high, I wouldn't be talking to you about this because the scratch team would have already implemented this system.

This is really an interesting thought, and I give you props for having the guts to come out and say this. I do agree with you that there's been a lot of spam and posting for the sake of bumping post counts lately, and getting rid of them may not be a bad idea.

Same here. I think it is a reasonable idea to keep the forums clean of spam  smile !

Re: Hide post counts

It's not really the first time this has been suggested though. I heard talks about it before I left on my 5 month break.

Re: Hide post counts

Hey guys -

I've been rethinking everything. And I've realized, that although post counts are quite a deal, just hiding them won't do so much - especially that if something more helpful was to be done, like closing Miscellaneous, then the post counts could be un-hidden. So I've decided to have this thread closed - and now, you should check out this thread:

Post your opinions there  smile
