Discuss.
Okay, let's discuss.
I feel that certain elements of the community have become obsessed with the post counts recently and that it is leading to a lot of unnecessary posts. Closing the topic might help people focus on the original purpose of the forums - sharing useful information.
I also have been receiving a lot of reports about unfriendly behavior and arguments from that particular topic and I am tired of cleaning it up. So, like any other topic that becomes too much of a maintenance problem, I closed it.
It was not caused by any one person or set of actions but rather the cumulative result of a series of small actions. So nobody is to blame except me.

In that case, if another person made a topic with the same purpose as that, would you close it?

I admire somebody who doesn't give up easily
Since my primary reason for closing it was because it was becoming a maintenance hassle..what is going to be done differently to keep your proposed new topic from becoming a hostile competition and spam-fest?

Well, if a mod were willing to update, they could close the topic and just edit the posts...
I think coolstuff and Wolfie would probably be up to the job.

Yeah...
I'm... in shock here.
I'm going to keep a secret list by myself.
Maybe I'll post it on IRC every once in a while.
*sob*
I was obsessed.

I got ideas for the new one.
Once it's made, close it, sticky it, and have the current moderators edit it. So it's just a reference, not a discussion thread.

OR activate the user list to everyone, going by post count. The server autoupdates that XD

Actually. I think this might be closed too.![]()
I said it first.
So Paddle. What do you think? By the way, I would help clean up if I was a mod...

No, because it's meant to be a reference that you can discuss about.

Yeah, to be honest it needed to go. I agree with Paddle that people were spamming and posting just for the sake of bumping their post count to get a higher spot on that list. I bet that a lot of it will stop now that the list will no longer be updated.
