60-second rule idea

How about this: When you first join Scratch, you have the 60-second rule.

After 1000 posts, you have a 45-second rule.

After 2000 posts, you have a 30-second rule.

After 3000 posts, you have a 15-second rule.

After 4000 posts, you no longer have posting time rules.

So... Comments? I know there are some problems, I just want to know your opinion.  tongue

Spam.

A better idea would be after X weeks or something.

Re: 60-second rule idea

I don't know.. For me the 60 second rule is fine, since I'm rarely hit by it.  tongue

There needs to be some sort of limit anyway since it helps stop spamming/trolling, but maybe reducing it for Scratchers that have been active for a while would be nice.  smile

Re: 60-second rule idea

I agree with 06dknibbs. The 60-second rule is hardly a problem for me, and this idea would just give people more incentive to spam.

Re: 60-second rule idea

What's my post count? I can't see what it is when I'm making a post. Oh well, I know it's somewhere in the 900s. I don't want to be classified with the first-joiners, not that it's a bad thing, I just don't want to. Not that I like the idea, but these rules seem more likely:

<15 days = 600 seconds (like it is now),
<500 posts = 60 seconds,
500 to 1,000 = 45 seconds,
1,000 to 2,000 = 30 seconds,
2,000 to 3,000 = 15 seconds,
3,000+ = nothing
10,000+ = dude, how?

Re: 60-second rule idea

That would MAKE spam instead of removing it, you just want it because you hunger for more posts.

DAYS are a lot better.

Then spam would be every where in the forums. How would you like that?

Re: 60-second rule idea

How about, the higher your post count, the higher the 60 second rule? It's genius
For people with 4k+ it should be 400 seconds, and the rest, divide it by ten.

Re: 60-second rule idea

What if a spammer got hold of an account that didn't have the 60 second rule? Then BOOM! the forums would be buried in spam. Ugh, imagine the mess! Moderators would have to wear a diving suit, jump into the pool, and spend ages scooping the stuff out.  yikes

Ok, you all have a point.

Maybe I'll make a new thread for some 60-second idea I have...  tongue
