How do I insert an animated GIF?
I tried, and it only inserted the first frame.

Import them as costumes rather than sprites. So make a sprite with one costume, which can be as simple as a scribble, it really doesn't matter. Then press the "import" button under the "costumes" tab and things should work great

to insert single frames:
1. go to http://www.animine.com/tut1/split_animation.htm
2. follow the instructions.
3. right-click each image and select save image.
4. save them to a place you can remember.
5. open each frame and change the file extension from .gif to .jpeg
6. save each image with the new file extension
7. import each frame to scratch like normal!
