Cannot run/view Scratch projects with Internet Explorer

Hi,

I searched the forum but did not find anything pertaining to this.
It is possible I'm not using the right keywords.

I have different behavior when I click on a project in scratch.mit.edu, depending on
which browser I use.

In Opera, the project will display and I can run it.
In Internet Explorer, the project shows a blank window.
When I open the IE's Java Console, it says that "ScratchApplet not found"

How can ScratchApplet be missing for IE but not a problem for Opera?

My computer configuration:
   Windows Vista Home Premium
   IE 7
   Opera 9.26

Please advise.

Re: Cannot run/view Scratch projects with Internet Explorer

Additional info:

The Sun Java Console shows the following error message:

java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.net.SocketPermission scratch.mit.edu:80 connect,resolve)
    at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(Unknown Source)
...
    at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)
java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.net.SocketPermission scratch.mit.edu:80 connect,resolve)

Because IE7 is part of Windows Vista, I cannot uninstall and reinstall it.

Strange.  I use IE7 on Vista and it works fine.

Well, I use Firefox. I have found that it actually allows most online programs to run, except for MSN games. I dunno why it does that.....but......internet explorer runs Scratch fine for me.

Re: Cannot run/view Scratch projects with Internet Explorer

I agree with "ihaveamac". I have 2 Vista machines, one works and one does not. I suspect it has something to do with my IE7 but since I cannot reinstall IE, one machine cannot be used.

To be more speciic, I used VMWare to run a second Vista machine. The host Vista machine shows this problem but the guest Vista displays Scratch fine.

That is also why Opera will display Scratch fine on both machines. I've spent enough time on this, so I'll just not use IE7 for the time being.
