One of my favorite browsers to use is Flock. Currently, Flock is based on Mozilla Firefox, but the people who make Flock have released a beta version of Flock based on Google Chrome, and I'm testing it out.

Supposedly Google Chrome runs faster than Firefox, so, theoretically, the Chrome-based Flock should run faster that the Firefox-based Flock.... and I'm finding that this not the case. My Firefox-based Flock browser runs much faster.

But then again, I've configured my Firefox-based Flock so it runs pretty snappy for most sites. I'm wondering if there are any known hacks for Google Chrome that would make it run faster (I've tried searching online but haven't found anything useful yet hmm ). Any help from Chrome users out there?

I use it. It's faster than my other browsers (ie, firefox, opera, safari, some random C# browser that i might not release)

I've never heard of it. I'm in need of some chrome help too, actually. I can't seem to install any toolbars
Can you provide a link to lock? I want to try it out

If you really need the speed, try finding some plugin. Things that speed your internet work in a way:

They get the url that you want, then THEY connect to the site with your info, compress it and put it on their servers, then send that to your computer.

Not on my end, though; Chrome-based Flock lags on loading like crazy, but Firefox-based Flocks loads most stuff really quickly.

I'm just feeling rather picky about the fact that Firefox-based Flock loads the Scratch website in a blink of an eye (literally!) and Chrome-based Flock takes 3 to 5 seconds to load the Scratch website.

Both versions (Firefox-based and Chrome based) are available for download on that web page. Just a fair warning, though, the Chrome based version is a beta version and has some bugs.

LOL! Toolbars don't install in Chrome - only plugins do! Anyways, I'm afraid I can't help with the Flock problem... it's probably the way the plugins are implemented. Try Google's Help center.

That's unfortunate. I'm used to the giant bulky toolbar filled IE.
And I don't think there's anything about Flock in the help center. I was there for a few hours trying to figure out product deletion, and I didn't see anything about it. It wouldn't hurt to look again, though

Well, as it says in my first post up there, I've configured my Firefox-based Flock to run faster; my guess, it's these configurations that make it faster than the Chrome-based version. Either that or Chrome hates Verizon DSL.

I kind of want to even the playing field a bit and see if I can get into Chrome-based Flock and get it to run faster than it's Firefox counterpart. tongue
