No, I'm not against it.. ^^ in fact, I very much love the new version of scratch! But the thing is, when the Scratch program is taught into schools(it is taught in mine), wouldn't it be harder for new comers to understand if everyone keeps suggesting new and complicated ideas?! More likely, teachers would teach the latest version of scratch and it will be actually more complicated than the very first scratch program, it will be hard to understand if we add more complicated things.
so my suggestion, please give the links to each version of scratch and label the very first scratch program for "Beginners" or something like that.
......... Uh... if this problem was already solved in anyway, sorry! I was gone off Scratch for A LOOONG time. I was surprised by the front page! It was totally changed. Anyways...... so yeah! ( =^ _ ^= )

Older versions contain lots of bugs, a more reasonable solution would be to provide a "Simple/Expert Mode" button or menu entry which toggles the availability of some of the more complicated blocks like [ [sqrt] ( ) ], (letter of ( ) ) or the whole "Variables" category.
All simple blocks for Scratch are already available, current suggesions are about more hard-to-understand blocks that make no sense for young children.

you should be glad how simple scratch is! i use yoyo game maker which is ADVANCED i doubt anyone on scratch could use, and i use scratch. the difference is unimaginable! yoyo game maker is about 100000 times harder, and you need to be an actual programmer. keep that in mind

just don't use the blocks you understand

Actually, a lot of people on scratch can program in yoyo game maker. NXTGeek, and I think Keroro645 can too. Flash is a lot harder than that, though.
And C++, don't even get me STARTED with that.
Sorry to get off topic, but back on topic, this is what I think:
There should be beginner, intermediate, and expert levels of scratch. Beginner uses basic easy to understand blocks, intermediate uses more advanced blocks, and expert is programming in squeak.

As I mentioned in a previous topic that you also bumped, we as a community would probably appreciate it if you didn't bump up older topics unless you have something really interesting to say. Thankies!
