I'm attempting to make a side scrolling game and I need some ideas for it. It runs like this:
A Macintosh starts up. As soon as the bootloader finds the OS, the Mac crashes! A Finder message appears shortly after the crash and says something. After it closes, the game starts. The point is to go through several levels filled with obstacles to get to Apple and recieve a repair disk from Steve Jobs.
I need help with what the obstacles and enemies would be, it needs to be related to Mac's, pointed at objects in System 1-7 and Mac OS 8-9 style, but can have Mac OS X objects here and there. Things like Happy Macs and Sad Macs. I need some level design ideas, how many levels there should be and most importantly, who should be the main charcter. The layout is extermely simple. Super Mario Bros. type simple, so it won't be littered with too much obstacles and extra fluff. Who can help me brainstorm some ideas and level designs? And I'll need a side-scrolling script for the obstacles and enemies.

How about you have to change all the sad macs to happy macs, and fix the system?
EDIT; For the name, you could call it "Why I have Windows" xD

It was honestly great, but I'm sticking to a side scroller. If I ever make a Mac parody, I'll make sure the first thing I do is make a title sprite that says "Why I have Windows"!
I've got a title now (I'm using your "Mac's quest to fix the Apple" idea); all I need is level designs, start screen design, what the enimies should be and what should be the player sprite. I have the beginning and ending also.

It's your choice, it's your project. How many versions of Mac OS do YOU want? You could choose the ones with major GUI changes.

.85-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10.0-10.1-10.2-10.3-10.4-10.5-10.6 is the idea of level progression. I don't have any ideas of level design, so the objective could either be reaching something at the end, or just reaching the end and going to the next level without anything at the end to collect.

That sounds good. If it's supposed to be a platformer, you could have windows as platforms, and stuff of the like. Hey, and maybe for the start, you could have the "Happy Mac" as it boots up.

That's what I did! The start screen appears after you click the Finder message after the crash. And yes, it is a platformer! I just need to know what the enimies and main character will be and how how the levels should work!

Side Scrolling Engine: None Yet, because I don't think Perfect Side-Scrolling Engine v2 supports about 16 levels.
Conclusion: Needs alot more work.

Your understanding is poor if you think it can't handle more than 6 levels. How did you arrive at this conclusion, is it the fact that no games made with it have more than 6 levels? Really, the number of levels is only limited by the file size that the project grows to.

The "perfect v2" project was meant specifically for a game called Archknight's Adventure. It is not as easy to understand as I just mindlessly slapped together whatever worked for some specific scripts. The template I posted above is meant for beginners, it is simple and clear.

Alright, I've embedded the engine and told it to active when it recieves "Play Game". How do I make levels look different, like characters, background, environments, etc.?

You have to read and understand the tutorial I posted if you want to be able to modify it. I can't stress this enough. Try following the tutorials and building a simple scrolling screen, then you will have a better understanding of things.
The answer to your question, is you just replace the existing costumes with your own. However, unless you get around to understanding things you will run into so many problems that you will never finish your project.

Each version could get harder and you could add more things to it when you went though the level. I.e. Snow Leopard could be the hardest.
BTW: coolstuff how'd you know about Snow Leopard? Well I guess everyone know's about Snow Leopard.
