Scratch team, I think we need to update the forums to FluxBB 1.4.1.
I have a feeling that the forums are really out of date

Yeah, how, it would be upgrading them.
Oh, and I support!

Currently, we're running 1.2.14 - which isn't all that old. I don't think it's much of an issue unless we update to, say, a hugely major version.
Wait, would updating erase everything? (My guess is no)

No, it wouldn't, but it does involve a lot of work And some bugs will arise, too, from what I remember from the last forum update... Plus, the Scratch Team has altered the source code of these forums so much, it's hardly worth it.

If it isn't broken, don't fix it. (Facebook, learn from this XD)

Oh, yeah, I forgot to explain

There you go.

Ew... most people are use to these though.

Yeah, but they do look kind of... Outdated.

Fine, but if 2.0 ever comes, I DEMAND they update this.

I think I've found a way to upgrade from 1.2.14 (very modified) to 1.4.1
Here's the key
Different key, you'd probably want to manually turn on and off maintenance mode doing this one

The Scratch Team has changed the forum source code so much - wouldn't it be hard to redo all the edits?

I don't think these look too bad.
They're quite nice, actually... or maybe I get that feeling only because they're the first forums I've ever used.

I really like the Scratch Forum look - I would hate to see it changed.

I hope for something more integrated with the rest of the site.
If comments (like we have on projects) were not as restrictive (more than 500 characters...) and it was possible to create discussions (instead of just scratch projects) and have these discussions grouped by tag, and moderated groups... ( *cough* FaveTags *cough*) We would not need the forums, there wouldn't be such a divide in the scratch community. (as currently, we pretty much have two communities.) ...IMHO

I can't think of anything seriously lacking in the forums that would warrant an update, except for maybe better integration with the main Scratch site, like JTxt said.
What about dates on posts and avatars and better thread icons that are not squares and a mobile version?

We already have those.

Avatars
We have signatures; are avatars really necessary? That would just slow down the page loading.

I guess so, but why does it matter? I like the look of the Scratch forums.

Okay, that I agree on. I really want a mobile version of the forums.

I'm afraid I must disagree with this... Avatars wouldn't be fixed with an update, I like the squares, and we already have dates on posts (the blue bar above each post). I do, however, agree with a mobile version.
Lightnin has said that there will probably be some tighter integration between the main website and the forums with the release of 2.0 - at least, he said he'd push for it.
