Before you complain about a project...

I was just viewing a really awesome project, it didn't work online but the project notes said: "IMPORTANT!!! READ:" Then explained that you needed to download for it to work.
Then I looked in the comments, and about 90% of all the comments were: "u cant even move anywhre u stay in the same place stupd game"
It must of been really annoying for the project maker, I was suprised at how many people didn't read where it said "IMPORTANT!!!".

So I am just telling people, before complaining about a project, remember to read the notes, its really annoying if a project maker makes an awesome project, only gets 1/10th of the love its they should of got, and gets a load of annoying comments even though they explained it perfectly.

A good idea is to upload it first, test it, and if it doesn't work right, make a background-sized sprite that covers everything, and type on the sprite MUST DOWNLOAD. I've seen people do this and their project gets more appropriate love-its and views.  smile

Re: Before you complain about a project...

If your project has a problem online, you can make a notification that only shows online. It works quite well.

The notification hides. Offline, the 0/0 error in the next block stops the script, but online, it skips over it and shows.

Thats a cool script, but it wasn't my project, not everyone knows how to do that and I am just pointing out how it is a good idea to read the project notes first, I have also seen people asking "how do i moev?" when its in the project notes.

Absolutely. I'm just pointing that script out for anyone that wants to use it.  wink

Re: Before you complain about a project...

An online/offline sensor is a good way to announce that your project does not work online. There are a bunch of ways to do this, I posted an Online/offline sensor script on Scratch Resources. I usually spend quite a bit of time perfecting the project notes, yet not many people actually read them  hmm

Re: Before you complain about a project...

My hope is that with the next version of Scratch, 2.0, the projects will work the same online as they do offline, eliminating the need for such notices. At the moment, you'll just have to do as others have suggested and put an online/offline sensor in your project.
