Step 1. Create your variable, create project as normal Show it on the stage, as a large readout.
Step 2. Shift-click the "R", and turn the fill screen off.
Step 3. Alt-click on the orange part of the readout, until it says "watcher readout frame"
Step 4. Go to the red circle menu in the halo, and select change colour.
Step 5. Share it online, with the colour changed variable showing

Ok, shift click the "R" in Scratch and turn off fill screen. Then make your variable. Alt click on your variable until it says something like watcherreadoutframe. Click on the red icon and go down to debug. In the debug menu go down to control and in control there will be an option to change color.

Unfortunately, downloading resets the colours to the default...

Yeah, it works. In this mod I stopped making I had made all the blocks different shades of grey

Turn fill screen off, alt click it till its editing the readout, click the red button, change colour, then change it.
Its not hacking I don't think.
