Considering that Scratch's editor is worse than Paint, I really don't get why anyone would want to upload still images to Scratch. In fact, it ruins drawings when you try to import them. Really - it just doesn't make sense.

But this war happened months ago and anything related to it got closed, so I guess it's going to remain the same. But it would really be nice if it was like 2007, where art was at least interactive.

this. I agree with the first paragraph, but he's right in the second too, you can't stop thousands of people like this.  hmm

^^ WELL, I already did. But since nobody seems to listen, I suppose I will again.

*mumble*
I think art belongs on Scratch just as much as any other genre of project. Many artists work hours on their drawings, and should have a right to show it on a friendly site. Sites like Deviantart are alright for posting drawings, but there is some very innapropriate media there, and nothing you type is censored(believe me, I have an account and everyone always swears). Plus, some artist's friends may only go on this site, and there are many usages for Scratch for artists. A slideshow, for example. I usually just post art on Scratch. Should I be abused for that, or possibly even banned? No. Scratch is for all genres of media. What if musicians where insulted for using Scratch "Because they could post their music on Youtube."? Would you think that is the fair, righteous think to believe in? As for RPGing, I see no harm in it, aside for some drama which is not the fault of the Role-playing idea itself, but rather the users who embrace in the hobby. It is a great way to make friends and be creative, so why should be accuse it of differing and making us upset? Who are we to be selfish, and not let others enjoy what they do?

Thanks.

Re: Too Much Anime. WAAAAAAAAAAAAY Too much.

... Perhaps, instead of coming up with one-liners, the "RPGers" (to call that role playing is an insult to me) should collaborate on making animations. An animated story (Such as "Warrior Cats: Perky gets Snarky). Anything but one-liners.

Either that, or I hear that anybody can create a forum. I suggest they do that.

We've been over this before: Art vs Programming, Art vs Not Art, RPG vs Art, RPG vs Collab Fiction, etc. It's ALWAYS ended in a fight. A Holy War.

Re: Too Much Anime. WAAAAAAAAAAAAY Too much.

I don't mind art on Scratch as long as good games get recognition as well.
Unfortunately, there are often drawings all over the front page, while excellent games get ignored.
I think that something should be done so that a variety of projects will be on the front page. It will make many users happier because they are being represented.
I also think that there should be a special gallery or something for good projects that get very little attention.

Re: Too Much Anime. WAAAAAAAAAAAAY Too much.

Oh boy, here we go again...

Before the topic is locked, I just want to contribute my two cents as well.

First, Scratch really wasn't intended to handle art (try importing an image over 480x360 - you'll see what I mean). It just happened that some people started uploading their art with it, and then everyone else did too.

Now that shouldn't be a problem, but some people upload multiple projects per day containing nothing but a single picture. Here's where the problem lies: the sheer number of art projects, and how popular they get. Most of the games on the frontpage have something like "Help bring games back to the frontpage, click the love it button!" in the description, and that's basically the only reason they get there. Face it, that's really unfair, especially when your hard work goes unnoticed.

So for the artists, to keep it fair, the best solution is to try not to upload a bunch of little projects and compile them all into one big slideshow. Also, you've got all those blocks to the left. Why not use them to spice up your art? Don't worry, it's legal.  smile

OK, that's long enough.

I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.

The third paragraph was the only one I found not terribly biased towards programmers.

Funny. I found the first paragraph not to be biased. The second one explains his thinking and the third offers a solution. It's standard textbook writing.

Personally, I dislike asking for love-its. It hurts my sense of pride. Besides, I'd rather not say I got  to the front by ... Begging .

I agree with this. I hate how there are so many projects with a single picture that other projects don't get noticed. I actually like art projects more when they have multiple pictures, and like you said, it would be more fair to people who make games. Also, using scripts in an art project can make it more interesting.  smile
