Question about IP Addresses
I just have a random question about IP addresses. I wasn't completely sure where to put this topic, so I put it here in the miscellaneous forum. So, here's the question: What can someone do with your IP address? Does it give any personal info?

It will tell your exact physical location, ISP, and some other stuff like that.
NEVER give out your IP address.

im pretty sure you can find the location of the computer by the IP, or kill their bandwidth...

No, it doesn't, not your exact location at least.

This website shows the data which can be obtained from an IP address. Generally, giving out your IP is harmless.

The amount of stupidity in this thread is amazing.
Nobody can get you banned or "hack" into any of your accounts if they know your IP address. since your IP address is the Internet Protocol "name" of your computer. It's how servers send you information and you send them. So, every time you go onto a website, it logs your IP address. also, Routers will assign you a different IP every time you log on to your computer and go onto a connection, YOU CANNOT HAVE ANYTHING BAD HAPPEN IF YOU GIVE OUT YOUR IP! unless your IP banned from a website, that means all computers on your connection are banned from doing things on that website/

Your IP that people on the internet see is your modem/router's. The computer your on will have a IP mask which only people on your network can see. People can how ever if you set up your router/modem correctly can be directed to your computer and in that case it will be come a server or bot if someone has hacked it.
My site Find someone post count. Click posts under username. Find number of pages. Times that by 40 for min and 60 for max and you have a rough estimate of post count.

Actually it's not exact. I used an ip location thing and it gives the wrong location. Close, but wrong.
