Make Easy Animated User Icons

I just found out how to make your own really easy user icons, and since everybody has been asking, why not share?

I use GIMP. It's a free "mini photo shop". Start with a 90 by 75 image (pixels). MAKE SURE IT IS 90 BY 75!!!Now make your first layer. When your done, click the layer button and click new. Click the transparent option, and trace around your previous layer, but adding your slightly moved animation. Now click layers again, go down to transparency, and click remove alpha channel. Do this for all your frames, then when your done, go to Filter and click Animation>playback to see if it's what you want. So, here it is step by step:

New project (90 by 75 pixels)
First layer
New transparent layer
Trace around (adding slight animation)
remove alpha channel
repeat until your animation is done
Filters>Animation>Playback

And when your done, save as a .gif, then hit save, then choose save as animation and decide how long the intervals are (mine is 150 milliseconds).

I know many of you already know how to make these, but there's still many who don't, so don't be posting "Duh, it's so easy", because I didn't know how to (I knew I could with GIMP though)

Some other functions you can try are: Duplicate layer (I used that for mine  smile  ), different color options, different times, using some pre-made images (under filters)
And if you accidentally save it too big or small, no problem. Just go to image>scale image and change it from there to 90 by 75 pixels  smile

Please report any mistakes or confusions. And I would really like to see what you've made.

that doesn't work! when you go over the first layer and change/add something, everything from the first layer is still there, not changed!

Actually, if you have a mac, you don't. You might need to open up finder first and go from there

The only way to get GIMP is to download. But I am sure you could try doing it in Scratch, export the costumes as an aminated GIF
