Perfect, there is a very easy way to do this....
Add a list to a list (BYOB).

But I'm not sure how it would be displayed if not that.

This would be perfect for tile based games  big_smile

Yeah, but notice that this was posted 7 months ago...

So? It's still a good idea!  big_smile  I sill support!  big_smile   big_smile

Re: 2-D Arrays

Despite the age of this topic, I certainly give my full support  big_smile

I think archmage suggested we call them "tables" - that would be a great idea to "Scratch"-ify this idea  smile  "Multidimensional arrays" sounds really confusing, "Tables" does not  big_smile

Good idea. But what would we do to Variables? The name could be confusing.

Well, I think variables are already simple enough, and already have a reasonably established presence among Scratchers that they don't need to be changed. Plus, they're used in pretty much every program one could possible write; it might get confusing when Scratchers move along to more conventional programming languages and discover that whatever they thought variables were didn't exist...

Meanwhile, arrays (lists) are not a requirement in every program, and therefore can be simplified within reason. I've rarely had to use multidimensional lists before, in any of my programming endeavours, and therefore I find it can be simplified, too.

Calling arrays "lists" is much more friendly (and makes more sense  tongue ) - I think the same with 2D arrays and "tables".  big_smile

Re: 2-D Arrays

I like coolstuff's idea...

Lists could be 1D arrays, and tables could be 2D arrays!

It sounds so simple now!  smile

You could just use more than one list.

Not really. creating multiple lists to simulate a matrix is a huge pain.

Someone make a suggestion page. I'm out of votes.

This is a really good idea, my file system would really work if this was implemented.
