how do I make a gliding thingy

I want my guy to walk quickly to his destination. not like if your far away, run there, but if your close go slowlyyyyy...

Can someone help me, A tinypic picture of blocks would be nice, ty!

Change 100 to higher or lower depending on how fast you want it (Higher is faster)
