I am not trying to be mean or anything, and sorry if you are the makers of the projects, but I don't really think the current curated projects should be.
They are:
A remix of another persons project that did not really change anything.
- I don't think that the remix should get on the front page as it has made very little changes from the original. I don't know about you, but if I spent hours on a project, then when I uploaded it someone just copied it and got on the front page I would be a little bit annoyed.
A 3 second animation with someone holding up middle finger (It gets blured)
- I am pretty sure swearing isn't allowed on scratch, and all it really is is a really short animation.
Some pictures to some music that I think is copyrighted.
- This one is ok, but I don't think things with copyrighted music should get on the front page and especially not if its the main element, its someone else's music so they shouldn't get on the front page for it.
The projects have changes, they are still just random gifs and pictures not even made by the project makers though, one picture includes a real dog being kicked.
Sorry if I am being a bit fussy, but I think the curated projects should show some of the best of scratch.
If a new user comes, gets sworn at 2 times with 1 project, sees a dog being abused, then all the other projects they see are just gif animations from google images, the chances are they are going to leave.

I agree- especially on the one with the middle finger.
Edit: Just checked them out. The one with the middle finger has the b-word in the description x.x

Finaly they got changed.
The B word one should of been deleted, not curated!

True, true.

Who decided that this person would be a good curator?

The Scratch Team.

The curators are getting worse and worse... >_>

Part of why I'm just gonna keep on pressing until I get there. I wrote out a speech, that I think was pretty well done, and then more anime gets on the front page. I don't want to seem too critical, but wasn't part of the reason the curator spot was added to try and lessen the amount of anime and art on the front page?

Did you see her speech? It was a 3 sentence long paragraph with text speak. I wrote a 3 paragraph long, perfect grammar, mega-speech and I haven't been chosen.

Oh no! We need people who are innovative thinkers and have the ability to LEAD.

I'm almost beginning to lose all faith in the scratch team.

Yes, I've noticed that too. I'm not sure how the system works, but wouldn't it be easy to take 5 minutes out of the Scratch Team's time just to double-check curated projects?
Thats my only real input on the topic. I, personally, am not a fan of anime, but I disagree on the point that gettysburg11 raised. I don't really see how 'curated projects' was supposed to take anime off the front page.
I'll just end by saying those aren't the particular project I would choose...

No, it was to try and help good projects that weren't being viewed.
...
If we can't get any good curators, the Scratch Team should take the job...

They already feature projects. I think they should make a sort of test.

Good point! Maybe they want the community to have a part.

It isn't completely about your speech... it's about who you are and how well the Scratch Team thinks you can do. Also, in the topic post it mentions that they want curators of all genres - programmers, artists, animators, RPGers, etc.. That might explain a bit.

Yeah... I really am getting disappointed with curators; I hate to say this, but some of the choices are just ridiculous. One of the currently curated projects is just a character dancing back and forth for two seconds being repeated over and over - what's the point in curating that?

Does this person know that they are the curator and that whatever they favourite becomes curated?

We should be more respectful... I'll edit my previous post after posting this.
@Jonathanpb: The emails the Scratch Team sends you explain how the system works; leebee would know.

Maybe it's that this person believes they are doing their job right because this is what they feel represents the community. It's just the beginning of their shift, give them a chance. And I don't mean to be disrespectful but we are seeing a side of Scratch that isn't in the spotlight at all, mainly these types of projects. Therefore it's some representation of what the unseen side of Scratch is.

I don't particularly like the curated projects, but it's up to him/her....

There'll always be some projects you don't like.

Yes. Very True.

No, that wasn't the idea at all. The Curator position opens up the front page to people with all kinds of different interests. It's another way to celebrate the diversity of people that make up Scratch.
Thanks for keeping such a close eye on what is showing up though...we certainly don't want inappropriate projects to be on the front page. Our curators do receive detailed instructions but accidents will happen. We appreciate you folks taking such a strong interest and hopefully your turn to show projects that showcase your interests will come soon

I thought curating was supposed to be about:
1. Getting great projects that had hardly been viewed on the front page.
2. Seeing what Scratch users would choose.
3. About getting unique projects to be seen.
I know the Scratch Team would do a better job than us, but that's not the reason why they thought up curating, is it?
