Scratch is Crashing

Hey can anybody help with a technical problem I'm having?

Often when I run larger and more complex programs on Scratch, they crash. This happens unexpectedly when I try to pick up and drag a stack of blocks. Suddenly Scratch will freeze up. It stays frozen and there is nothing I can do about it. When it is frozen I can't control anything in Scratch, and I can't close the window. If I minimize it and then show it again, it will show as a blank white window, and closing it doesn't work, from the task bar or from the real window. It doesn't freeze the whole computer, just Scratch. I have to restart the computer and lose all my progress on the project from when I last saved.

I'm using Scratch 1.4 while running Vista on a 32-bit system with 2.00GB of ram.

I haven't had this problem when using 1.3 ever, but then again, I haven't done many big projects in 1.3. I also don't have this problem when running smaller projects. It seems as if this error occurs when the project reaches a certain limit, because after it crashes once, whenever I try to work on it after that, it crashes every time after I move just a couple blocks.

Does anybody know what is causing this problem? I have been trying to find out but haven't been able to discover the cause of this phenomenon. I think it has something to do with the project size, but I'm not sure. Any help?

Re: Scratch is Crashing

Hmm... How many variables have you got? I heard there was a certain limit on variables.

Well, don't worry about it, the Zara siggy will be back soon, new and improved! ^^ Meanwhile, just do what the sig tells you to. >.>

Re: Scratch is Crashing

I've had some similar issues...particularly when I use the Comment sticky notes anchored to blocks.  If I have too many of those, Scratch can't handle it.  Unattached sticky notes don't seem to cause a problem.

It's great that you're trying to help, but this topic does seem to be pretty old - I think the user has probably fixed their problem. If you want to help, why not do it in a newer topic?

It's only a few months old, not like 3 years old.

Re: Scratch is Crashing

It's Vista's fault.

Yawn, another boring text signature. I should really make something better.
