IBM started pretty much everything with their supercomputers.

Then, Apple, Microsoft, Xerox, Ubuntu, and other companies where all making their own text based Operating systems like DOS.

Next, The same companies started making more complex OS's because of the invention of the mouse.

Later, Apple pioneered the 'desktop', drag-and-drop interface, menus, and multitasking with the Apple Lisa.

Soon after, Microsoft and Apple added to this idea and made Windows and Mac OS.

Finally, These two Operating systems were revised and updated to the way they are today.

1. Ubuntu is not a company, and it has always been a graphical operating system
2. No, the first conventional supercomputers were probably PDP systems
3. Xerox had the first GUI for their operating system
4. The argument for a better operating system lies not in the user interface. Apple Computers are built better, run a rock solid Kernel with their magnificent Darwin OS. Where as with windows the command line, and core utilities seem to be the last thing on Micro$oft's minds.

EDIT: Also, I enjoy using Debian, because I can change window managers and the OS isn't a "Package deal" like OSX or Windows

Okay, I made a few errors, but I proved my point right? That was just off the top of my head, so it's bound to happen.

I love Macs. I love how good they are at multitasking. Right now I'm browsing the internet, (I've got a couple tabs open) burning a CD, working on a Scratch project, and listening to music all at the same time!

EDIT: Pointless addition: THERE ARE SO MANY VERSIONS OF LINUX!!

No, a linux distro is like a scratch mod. there are a few worth checking out, but 95% of them are the exact same thing
personally, I use debian with KDE window manager, dual booted with snow lepoard. I have XP professional in parallels fusion, but only for a few programs only available for windows.

Sounds awesome! Maybe you can send me the source code and I can make it for windows?

Can you at least share the code for the compiler? Or is there a file that compiles the project?
