Wireless Communication:
Can communicate in the 2.4 GHz band. Multiple Nintendo 3DS systems can connect via a local wireless connection to let users communicate or enjoy competitive game play. The actual matter of the Nintendo 3DS seems to be somewhat uncertain as various outlets and sources are all reporting different times and dates. The original press release announcing the Nintendo 3DS promised that it was coming in Spring 2011. Before E3, we heard that it was coming in August in 2010 in a surprise launch. Then, a source within the English game publishing industry said it was coming holiday 2010 to compete with the PlayStation Move and Microsoft Kinect. Now, Nintendo is back to saying it’s coming 2011.



Last night, Nintendo of America’s president Reggie Fils-Aime showed up on the Jimmy Fallon late-night talk show and he showed off some Wii games and mentioned the Nintendo 3DS. He told Jimmy Fallon (and the rest of America) that it’ll be coming in 2011. According to VentureBeat, Nintendo previously had told them behind closed doors at E3 that it was coming ‘before’ March 31st, 2011.

Since Sony didn’t show off a PSP 2 at E3, as was rumored and expected, it looks like Nintendo is still in the driver’s seat for the handheld market. It’s possible that Nintendo may have moved up the 3DS to a holiday launch if Sony was going to show off a new PSP 2, but a later Spring launch will give developers extra time for games as well as let Nintendo build up their stock of the handhelds.

Nintendo’s been working on 3D for a while. At E3, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata said that Nintendo has been working on the 3DS for 15 years while in a separate interview, famed Nintendo developer Shigeru Miyamoto said that Nintendo had been experimenting with 3D tech for 20 years (remember the Virtual Boy?).

At any rate, sounds like you won’t have the 3DS in time for Christmas.

Looks like there are still a couple of errors on the 3DS doesn't it!
Oh well, maybe the extra time will give 'em time to fix it up!
