Welcome to the forums, new scratcher! This guide will show you around the forums.
First, you did find your way to the forums when you clicked the "forums" link at the top of the page. Now you know that when you want to be foruming you can go there.
There are four categories, which you might have not noticed. You cannot post in threads in one category, which is the Archived Forums. As the name says, the forums inside of this category are locked.
To date, there are 27 forums you can post in excluding the archived forums. Currently, you are in the New Scratch Members forum, under the Scratch category. If you are reading this, I asume you are a new member. (I misspelled that on purpose)
Now, to create a reply, go ahead and do the following:
- Go to the top or bottom right corner of this post and click Post Reply
- Scroll to the bottom of this page and type in the Quick Reply.
You can type in about anything in there, just try not to put anything bad inside of it.

BBcode
Yes, this forum uses BBcode, not HTML. In fact the title of this section is using BBcode to make it bold!
Here are the BBcode tricks. Try them out yourself!
Bold text
To make text bold, use this code.
[b]Text here[/b]
Italic text
To make text italic, use this code.
[i]Text here[/i]
Underlined text
To make text underlined, use this code.
[u]Text here[/u]
Link (this leads to the scratch homepage)
There are 2 types of the URL function.
New Scratchers have to wait to become members to use this BBcode tag.
Type 1:
[url]http://www.InsertYourSiteUrlHere.com/[/url]
and Type 2:
[url=http://www.InsertYourSiteUrlHere.com/]I'm a link![/url]
Images
To insert an image, use the following code.
New Scratchers have to wait to become members to use this BBcode tag.
[img]http://www.site.com/someimage.png[/img]
The accepted formats are PNG, GIF, BMP, JPEG, and more.
Colors
Like URLs, you can use two types.
Type 1:
[color=blue]Text here[/color] -------^^^^You can put just about any color here.
Type 2:
[color=#000000]Text Here[/color]
Code
As you've seen in the examples above, I have been using code boxes to show you the BBcode that you use.
It goes like this.
[ code]Type anything here![ /code] Remove spaces for the BBcode to work.
Quote
When you click quote, this BBcode is added. Once again, 2 types.
Type 1:
[quote=Username]LOL, I do remember eating pie that day![/quote]
Type 2:
[quote]Blah blah blah code blah blah blah Scratch blah blah blah...[/quote]
Using multiple BBcodes together
You can connect more than one BBcode together to make awesome stuff, such as a image that is a link at the same time, or Funky text!
The Forumers
If you have noticed, there are over 10 thousand forumers, some of which are inactive.
Try your best to not get on their bad side. It's okay to disagree with someone's opionin, but not to hate them.

I disagree, the forums shouldn't be gainsboro.
A bad forumer wrote:

(please note these are examples, these are not real posts)
You might also want to get along with the forum moderators and Scratch Team.
New users
New users do have limitations, until they become regular members. The scratch team, though not all of the team, changes people from New Scratcher to Member.
New members have
- a 600 second rule (10 minutes)
- no signature
Um...that's all I know.
Smilies
There are many smilies available on the forums. You can find them at this help area.
If you have any ideas on what to add here, post!
After 12 BBcode Syntax errors, I got this post through.

That's nice! And I like that picture at the top. Two questions:
• Why did you intentionally misspell "asume"? (You misspelled "category" a bit before that )
• Could you link to this somewhere? It's a guide for BBCode.

I'll edit it as soon as I get on the computer. Right now I'm on an iPod touch.

Great if only we didn't have so many others.

Awesome guide! Unfortunately, people with the New Scratcher tag can't use the URL or IMG tags at the moment... You might want to mention that in the topic post - otherwise people might get confused

I get it. I'll edit it when I have time. Just be happy I got it through after 12 BBcode Syntax errors.

Updated. Misspellings fixed (except one on purpose) and added noticed for BBcode tags.
