Giving the Scratch Wiki a better place in the Support page

This is what it currently has:

http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/7514/271scratchsupportpagepi.png

The Scratch Wiki doesn't have much space - all it gets is a small spot at the bottom. Well, I think something as great as the Scratch Wiki (:3) deserves more than that! How about this:

http://img710.imageshack.us/img710/8497/272scratchsupportpagepi.png

Much better! It has its own spot like the FAQ and the forums - yay!  big_smile

What do you think?  smile

This.

I support it.

I would like to see a table of contents on the front page of the wiki. That would make it easier to browse. Right now it is focused primarily on people searching I think.

Re: Giving the Scratch Wiki a better place in the Support page

Yes, the Scratch wiki is linked on the front page in such a tiny spot, and when I first started Scratch, the Support page first led me to the forums, but the Scratch Wiki is way more important for beginners, and with this idea, it will be easily noticed. Supporter!

Re: Giving the Scratch Wiki a better place in the Support page

It's really funny how there is such a convenient space in between to fit the scratch wiki, but they don't bother to put it.

What's that "This. I support it" thing? Is that about my suggestion or your suggestion?

There are approximately 250 articles on the wiki - that's way too many for the front page.  tongue  There's a Contents part that names the most important articles though...

There's nothing wrong with this suggestion (:3) and it's so simple to implement - please do it, or post saying why you won't!  smile

Re: Giving the Scratch Wiki a better place in the Support page

We've seen this thread and we're talking about it!

One concern is that the membership on the Scratch Wiki doesn't currently represent the entire Scratch community as well as it might. For example, I don't think there are many artists, animators, or RPGers active on it right now. Edits / articles that reflect the perspectives of these Scratchers would help make sure the wiki both represents and feels welcoming to all members of the Scratch community.

So while that issue feels important, it shouldn't take away from the pride felt by the creators. The Scratch Wiki is overall an awesome and really exciting project, and I think it's likely we'll end up increasing its emphasis on the Support page soon.  smile

Re: Giving the Scratch Wiki a better place in the Support page

We basically approve every account that is requested so the representation of different scratchers should grow in the right direction ;D

and ofcourse...
I support!!

And I talked with Andrés about the Table of Contents thing, I know what he means and I'll explain once I have some time so we can work together and make the best out of it.

Okay!  big_smile   big_smile   big_smile

Though the Scratch Wiki is available to everyone, not just some users... if artists, animators and RPGers want to join, they can. I think it's mainly that some 'genres' of users are interested in the wiki and want to join, while some 'genres' of users aren't that interested.  tongue

Although I feel that this is unrelated to this thread, there is something to be said about it.

We definitely have been trying to add some artists, animators, and RPGers, like Maki-Tak and such - but it's not the easiest. But on the other hand, I'm fairly busy so I don't have time to ask RPGers if they want to join.

But it's their loss really. I mean, saying that we don't have enough artists, animators, and RPGers so it's biased, it's basically like saying that we don't have enough 50+ year old members on Scratch, so the amount of each type of projects is unfair or biased. So it's a bit unreasonable.

Read that.  smile

It's not the wiki's fault that artists, animators, and RPGers don't go on the wiki as much - we can't force them. It's their choice! If they wanted to join the Scratch wiki, they would (and should  tongue ). So you really can't criticize the wiki when it's actually the users.  neutral

If you want more artists, animators and RPGers to join the wiki, go and manually ask each one of them to join - the Scratch Wiki is open to everyone and has no restrictions, so they're welcome.  big_smile

What does the people in the Scratch Wiki have to do with giving the wiki a better spot in the support page? The wiki's already in there - all I ask is that you give it a normal spot like the FAQ and forums.  hmm

Wow, that looks really good! I really do like the logo  big_smile

Maybe you should put the logo on the actual wiki, too, if you haven't already.
