Problem With New Member System

I am soupoftomato, I made this account to take a look around the new system. Anyway, in the topic, "New Members Introduce Yourself Here," they can no longer do that because it's blocked.

Just thought I'd let you know.  smile

@ JSM: I don't know the full list of changes...

@ Soup: Hmmm... what exactly does it say when you try to post (or is there no posting box?)  hmm

Re: Problem With New Member System

That's odd...  yikes  I wonder why that happened... maybe they've blocked posting in stickies (I'm genuinely clueless on this one... sorry for not being so helpful  hmm ) Other than that, I can't think why that would happen... is there a posting box on other stickies?

Re: Problem With New Member System

I would like to try it, but Porygon-Z is too old, cpsf9 too - and I uploaded projectswith numbers 42XXXX with bnecam... I do not want to create another account.

But for me is the posting box fine.

Re: Problem With New Member System

I found a text box for the "Signatures" thread, so it must have to do with the New Member system.

Yeah... I know that Members can post in stickies still (checked on my other account), I'm just not sure whether or not New Scratchers can post in stickies or not  hmm

Wow... How unfortunate! New Scratchers can't post in topics in this forum, and yet they can still post their own topics...

Re: Problem With New Member System

This looks like a bug...the post box doesn't show up on any topics in New Members or Show and Tell...even topics they have created themselves.  I'll report this to the development team.  Thanks for finding this!

Moving this to Troubleshooting  smile

Well, "New Scratcher" is an added member group, I guess the Scratch Team forgot to check the "New Members" topic for this group. It will be an easy fix for them  wink

Re: Problem With New Member System

You're, right! I'm scratch_yoshi, and I tested this out, and it didn't work! I can't kpost at all in New Members or Show and tell, end I can't edit/delete posts either (which is the only reason I'm double-posting)!

Re: Problem With New Member System

I'm pretty sure we have this issue fixed...New Scratchers can now reply to posts on the New Members forum.  Thanks for bringing this issue to our attention  smile

New Scratchers are still restricted in a few areas though - they can only post topics (but not reply to them) in Show and Tell.  And they can not post at all in Advanced Topics, Collaboration or Miscellaneous.

Re: Problem With New Member System

I just signed up for an account here and I'd like to post in the Advanced Topics section. What would it take to make this happen?  I am by no means new to Scratch and have spent a few weeks working with the Scratch source code. I'm doing research that requires modifying the Scratch source code and have some very specific questions I'd like to post to the Advanced Topics section. I appreciate your time and attention, thank you.

I think you have to be a member on the forums for 15 days, which will also get you a signature.

I am afraid that for now, you will just have to wait the required amount of time to be upgraded to a member - sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. I've begun a discussion with the other moderators about this.

We've decided to open up Advanced Topics to New Scratchers and see how it goes.  So you should be able to post and reply there now   smile

Re: Problem With New Member System

In the NEW TBG forum (Notice I'm capitalizing the word new), it won't let me post new games (And this is the NEW TBG forums!) and it still considers me as a New Scratcher when I've got over 30 posts! Do I have to be active for 15 days on the NEW TBG forums to post a new topic??? Cuz after only a few days of being on the NEW TBG forums, I got a signature. Fix the New Scratcher glitch on the NEW TBG forum with the new-topic thing!

It takes time. Patience is a virtue...

Just wait and you'll be able to post new topics.

I think it's meant to be like that  hmm  I think the TBG mods have been making "base threads" for people who request them, so that a mod posts a topic, which is then given to the New Scratcher. Try speaking to one of the TBG mods about it (if you don't know who they are: Chrischb, Vista4563, Survivorduck and BulboGrubb) - perhaps there was somewhere that others have been requesting base threads? I'm not sure, but they must have asked somewhere  smile
