I've been on scratch for 2 and a half years and somehow never knew this: What's it mean when someone says "bump" in a forum topic?

They're trying to bump their topic back up to the top of the posts lists so more people will see it.

It means they are wanting other people to respond to the post. If no one responds, the post drops farther into the forum message list until people quit seeing it.
Most forums have rules about how often, for what, and by whom posts can be bumped. Otherwise spammers would try to hog the front page.

All right thats what I thought it meant thank you

Sometimes peolpe have favorite forums that are old and they don't want closed and put in history, so they bump it to keep it alive and get more replies. Some people do it to their first threads. Also, a bump might not be just "bump"; some are very late answers with little or no sense and\or is about the topic but as the above says, it is very late. Some people even do both. Eventually, you'll want\need to do this for more answers and even I had to do it to my forums if they ever reached second page, usually using method 2.
Some examples of bumps:
BUMP!
bump...
bu-bu-bu-bump!
bumpbumpbump
bump-y road
bumpz
B-U-M-P
Watch out , though. Sometimes bumping can considered annoying and spam. Some areas don't allow bumps.
Hope this helps! .........bump.
