YES. Definitely.
Look, there's just a whole world that's possible with online. Even more possibilities that right now.  An idea is that, for this collab gallery thing, only members of the collab could edit the project, add stuff, etc. and a message would be sent to the other members to accept or decline the change by a majority vote.. Just an idea, you know. But older versions (Yes, even 1.0) should still be able to share projects. Also, maybe projects from  your computer could be uploaded. Well, that's my two cents.

How about people can ask others to post ads on their projects!

Re: About Collaborations

What about a way for people to edit the same project ate the same time, Each person can also see what the other perosons doing, and there is a chat box to discuss what your doing.

I'm glad to think that the community will always be kind and helpful, the language will always be a fun and easy way to be introduced into programming, the motto will always be: Imagine, Program, Share - Nomolos

Re: About Collaborations

If Scratch 2.0 includes a way to have people use Scratch (program) without having to download the Scratch program and the .sb file, then there should be a way where many people can work on a project simultaneously.

Right now one of the the biggest problems with collaborations is that you need so bulky way of transmitting the file, and while one person is working on their part, no one else can work on the project.

You should be able to work on a project on the website and save the changes on the website so other members can work on one part while you're working on another and you won't have to combine the changes, they'll all already be in one project.

For this to happen without someone messing up the project (joining the collab just to delete all the scripts and ruin everyone else's hard work), two things should happen. First, one person should be "in charge" of the collab and have the ability to revert anyone's changes. And second, you should also be able to save the project as a .sb file on your disk, so you can keep backups.

I've taken a long hiatus, but I still visit sometimes. Give me some time to answer any messages you post on my projects!

Like e-mail on scratch. That one will be the greatest. Then you can send passwords and things without other people knowing.

The only problem, is that, that's very similar to private messaging, which the Scratch Team will NEVER add/do.

Though I agree with that... I'll post that in the Suggestions!

Re: About Collaborations

There should be a "Group" section, where you can add you friends. They should receive a message like "[group creator] would like you to join [company]. Do you accept? {yes} {no}
and then they can log in with their own password to the group...
Or, they opposite, when group joiner clicks the {request to join} button, group creator receives the message: [group joiner] would like to join [company]. Do you accept? {yes} {no}
And so, you can have different levels, like administrator of group, and normal people... or something like that.
Higher ranking people should be able to use {manage} button to manage the group, like if someone is not doing anything on the group, they might want to kick someone off. But then you can also do {all administrators must check with manage before occurrence} button so all admins should have to check to make sure the changes are fine.

About the "work on a project on the website and save the changes" part, you could download the project and if you're the same person that created the project, make it have the same name as the project(don't change it) and it will replace the old one.

Re: About Collaborations

Since Scratch 2.0 is going to be online, there could be a collab mode where two or more users can chat with each other, show scripts, art and other things and then eventually after both have worked on the same program they upload it and it automatically gives credit to all the people who worked on it. Maybe there should be a filter for the chat so if you type in a bad word the chat filter senses what you said and doesn't allow you to say it. And both people should be able to work on the project at the same time. Maybe there should be a box that shows the other persons Scratch Screen so you can see what there doing and send a thing that appears beside a script with a comment you wrote telling them that it might mess up the script you made. This should also be available for the download version. But there should be folders in Scratch that get saved online or something so it isn't confusing.

There's always the chance that people will use it as a chat program, which scratch discourages. But that would be a good idea, and they've already said that there will be a downloadable version.

If you could only send passwords, and attach projects, then it wouldn't be so much like private meassaging.

Like a "Add Into Project and Save" button, that doesn't overwrite but files in the changes?

Re: About Collaborations

A way to do the whole "update thing" in my opinion is to make it so that as you change it, it refreshes it after you hit a button. Then, for the "collab messaging" you can have like a little broadcast go along with it that others can read and respond to.

Re: About Collaborations

Idea! Where you share your project, there would be a checkbox that when it was unchecked, it would show normal, with the collaboration setup which would be Company and Creator blanked out or not showing. But checked, it shows both sections. Why both sections? Verification to make sure it is a scratcher sharing it. But on the site, it wouldn't show who shared it. It would show the creator and the company. And when you clicked on the name of the company on the site, it would link to a list the people who helped created it, or it would link to the forum thread.

Sounds hard, but cool.
