Alright, so if you're reading this topic, you might have seen my forum "Freedom Of Speech On Scratch". My opinions have changed, so I've decided to post a new forum. I don't think that flagging is terrible. However, I do think that the rules should be less strict.
Here's a basic summary on my opinions
Language
Should be deleted: The F word, S word, N word, etc.
Shouldn't be deleted: H**l, C**p, Stupid/Dumb/Idiot type stuff, God or Jesus said in vain, bathroom humor (unless it's pretty detailed stuff about it and the body parts that made it),etc.
Why: Parents have different rules about what their kids can see. But generally speaking, most parents wouldn't allow their kids to say the words on my "should be deleted" list. If a bunch of parents decided to debate on whether kids should be allowed to say the words on the "shouldn't be deleted list" the argument could theoretically go on nonstop for days or maybe even weeks. It's not fair to limit things to one person's opinion on what's appropriate (which is everything on both lists). However, it is fair to limit things based on what most people agree are inappropriate (the stuff on the "should be deleted" list). If the things on the shouldn't be deleted list are flagged, then they should be placed into the "not for everyone" category.
Violence
Should be deleted: Realistic and/or moderate bloody violence.
Shouldn't be deleted: Cartoony violence and some blood.
Why: Currently, cartoony violence is allowed but not some blood. But think about the circumstances of the blood. Often (maybe even usually), blood is nothing more than red stuff made in the paint editor. We shouldn't delete it, unless it is shown moderately, or looks realistic. Same as language (above) the stuff on the shouldn't be deleted list should fall into the "not for everyone" category.
That sums up my opinions for now!
P.S., I think Scratch should have the option for users to not see the not for everyone projects.
The below sentence is true.
The above sentence is false.

So why do you have your sig in the post?
EDIT: Also, this kid brings up a valid argument. I'm liking what he's saying in every way possible.

My parents are strict about hearing god and jesus said in vain. Plus, it can be offensive...

Same for me. But it's not even censored now though . . .

My parents don't care what I say when I'm around my friends. But when they're around basically all I can't say in the F-bomb, the S-bomb, or the N-bomb.

But do they allow you to say the stuff on the shouldn't be deleted list?

Here's a basic summary on my opinions
Language
Should be deleted: The F word, S word, N word, etc. Of course.
Shouldn't be deleted: H**l, C**p, Stupid/Dumb/Idiot type stuff, God or Jesus said in vain, bathroom humor (unless it's pretty detailed stuff about it and the body parts that made it),etc. H**l and C**p are not always deleted. I have seen it stay. It really depends how it is used. God and Jesus in vain should NOT be allowed. It is VERY offensive to religious people, and that would be discriminating to other people and scratch. And what? Stupid, dumb and idiot aren't banned or removed! But also, don't go around calling people that. It depends how it is used again.
You bring up a good point, but it is best to keep it to a level of every parents satisfaction, not just some.
Violence
Should be deleted: Realistic and/or moderate bloody violence. Agreed.
Shouldn't be deleted: Cartoony violence and some blood. Cartoony violence is mostly okay. almost every video game and movie has some mild or cartoon violence! It comes up everywhere, even on kids sites. Just not to high of violence. Blood however, really depends. I dislike blood overall, but sometimes it depends if it is squirting in waterfalls out of a graphic wound, or just a papercut.
Again, good point, but blood drawn from red in a paint editor still represents blood. some people get nautious about blood, an many parents would not let their kids on scratch if that was allowed.
That sums up my opinions for now!
P.S., I think Scratch should have the option for users to not see the not for everyone

That is offensive to some religions.
But it's really no big deal. Saying that is not discriminatory against religious ppl.

Just wondering whats the N word
All of the words on both lists im allowed to say, but some stuff you just don't say around your parents.
The N word is a racial slur, which black people use in a nonoffensive way, but white people use it in a racist way.

Also for [removed] just do Joeisawesomes way of [removed]
[Note from moderator - cheating the censor is not allowed. If you can still recognize the word, it shouldn't be on Scratch]

I don't agree with the language, since the majority of young Scratchers will probably have parents that wouldn't want them turning around and using them in public, the house etc: Although perhaps something like "idiot" is (slightly) allowed, as long as your not insulting someone directly..
Allowed: My cat is an idiot,
Dis-allowed: OMG UR AN IDIOT >:(
But, I definitely agree with the violence rules being a bit too strict. Rhy's project Summer was banned from the front page because it include frying humans with a sun, and a lot of parents probably wouldn't mind that sort of thing.
In fact I knew a lot of parents that let their kids play games such as James Bond when I grew up, and if they didn't mind children directly shooting some spy on a TV Screen, I'm sure they wouldn't be bothered by minor cartoon violence...

Scratch is for all ages, so C--- and H--- should NOT be allowed. Ever think of 5 year olds who play scratch?

Imagine this:
5-year-old (Let's call him Shane.): Mom! Can I go on scratch???? Pwetty pwease?
Mother: (Comes and looks at homepage) Sure, Shane!
Shane: Thank you mommy!
Mother: Your welcome, Shane.
Shane: (Makes account, ShaneRules, shall we name it?)
Shane: (Uploads a few projects)
---3 Weeks Later---
Shane: I wonder what the forums are...
Shane: OOH! You can post stuff!
ShaneRules: (Posts in New Scratchers) Hi! This is my first forum post! Scratch is fun.
15-year-old (Let's call him sandguy.): OHAI. R U A N00b?
ShaneRules: You spell funny.
sandguy: What the c--- is wrong with you n00b?
---Later that day---
Shane: Mommy, what the c--- is wrong with you?
Mother: Shane! Where did you learn that word?
Shane: Scratch!
Mother: Never go on that site again!
(OK, bad-ish example, but you get the picture...)

The Scratch forums were created for discussion of the programming language, Scratch. In reality, you should never need to use any of these terms if you stay strictly on-topic.
(As for violence in projects - cartoony violence with blood is allowed - take Cube World for example.)
