As you know the current sprites in Scratch 1.4 are all made up of pixels. My idea for Scratch 2.0 is to make the sprites less pixely. Pixels are not quite as nice as a smoother kind of animation would help very much.

Something like vector graphics? Where the information is stored as colours and lines, not pixels? It's a cool idea, and, if it's possible - I support!
For now, you could try finding sprites from the internet, or asking for custom sprites on the Requests Forum. You could start your own thread, or ask in one of the many sprite "shops"

You mean vector?
I think it would take up to much memory to be worth it personally, and would only make a difference if you zoom in.

To join the wiki, you must request an account. From what I can gather, the latest way to do that is to go here, and fill in the form

What most flash game makers do is fade, or mix. Say you have a red object and a white backround. You put pure red in the center of the object, and a mix of red and white around the edges. It makes you image quality skyrocket.

Having pixels is not the issue with scratch, the issue is having huge pixels. Hopefully they will make the image editor in v2 at least as good as MS paint. The current scratch image editor is possibly the worst art tool I've seen, less features than MS Paint and massive pixels.

The smother things that you are seeing are actually made up of pixels. Those people just have quality control. And, you can make smooth things with Scratch, it's just that no one has ever bothered to attempt to make good art.

That is obviously untrue. You can't make smooth looking pictures with scratch because the pixels in the image editor are too big. Projects with smooth pictures had their pictures made with another program.

Well when I posted I thought that at least making the pixels Smaller would increase the graphic quality
You can't make pixels smaller Otherwise you'd be displaying half-pixels, which... isn't possible.
I support! At least allow for semitransparency and antialiasing for smoother graphics. You wouldn't have to go so far as vector graphics.

I support this idea.

No I mean shrink the size of the pixels not cut them up
Again, not possible. Pixels are display-dependent - if you have a high quality display, you're likely to have a higher pixel density and thus have smaller pixels. But the size of the pixels is entirely dependent on the display you're using

I made this in the Scratch paint editor. I got annoyed with the original Scratch logo in the corner, and Splitz is my nickname, so I made that. I used it to replace the logo in the corner. It looks smooth-ish.

Its base don a button isn't it? It looks pretty good, but... because of scratchs paint editor, it looks kinda blocky, its just because of the size of the smallest pixel size (If that makes any sense)

If I hadn't smoothened out some parts, it would look like this:
Difference?

I made both with the Scratch paint editor.

Its a logo, not a sprite though, nice work though.

The point is, if I can make a logo like that, I, and other people, can make players like that if we really try.
