The iPhone 4 had a hardware recall.

The death spot is the line at the bottom left when facing the front of the iPhone. Cover it, and reception can drop a lot, and in a place with weak signal, it can drop to 0 bars. This hurts lots of people that handle their phones in their left hand, and use their right hand as the finger for the touch screen.

Another note, you can get into a class action lawsuit between Apple and AT&T if you got the iPhone 4 between Launch date yesterday (july 12) IF you got locked into a 5 year contract.

The heart of the suit is supposedly the fact that even with a 2-year contract buyers were getting at least a five-year contract thanks to the exclusive deal for the iPhone. The five-year agreement was confirmed by court documents.
