Speaking Clean- Posting for New Members

Okay, so you are new to the forums, and you want people to find your posts and topics. First of all, post in the correct topic. Check out this guide to find where to post what.Second step is to speak clearly and clean. Let's go over what that means.

Speaking Clearly
If you want your thread or post to be replied to, don't speak like this:

Code:

hEY im knew and i cANt amke a galery

That will receive attention, as it is very distracting, but people won't really be able to understand you and they just might skip your post. Let's go over and fix the mistakes.

1. Make sure to type how you would write it. Only use capital letters for the first letter in a sentence and for proper nouns(also capitalize your i's  smile  ). This is how it should look now:

Code:

Hey Im knew and I cant amke a galery

2. Punctuation will make your sentences easier to read.Make sure to add commas where needed, apostrophes in contractions, and punctuation at the end of the sentence(period, exclamation mark, etc.). This is how it should look now:

Code:

Hey, I'm knew, and I can't amke a galery.

3. Spelling is probably the most important of all of these. Spelling a word incorrectly could make your sentence mean something totally different. Firefox has a built in spell checker, but if you are using something else, be sure to check your spelling. This also goes for making silly mistakes, like 'amke' instead of 'make'. This is how it should look now:

Code:

Hey, I'm new and I can't make a gallery.

4. So we are done, right? Well, not exactly. The last problem is, well, the sentence itself! Make sure to see if your question has been asked before so you don't make unnecessary threads.

Do and Don't
DO- Always speak clearly with correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
DON'T- Talk in '1337 Speak' unless it's just a word or so.
DO- Capitalize only letters that need to be capitalized.
DON'T- Capitalize all your letters.

Now it's time for the last section, spicing up your threads with BBCode. When you post, there should be some links below that say 'BBCode; [img] tag; and Smilies'. I won't get into that, you can learn about the code by clicking on those links or checking out some guides like this or this.

Now, go out and use this knowledge the next time you post!

Great job - I really find it difficult to understand when a lot of new members post - actually, I find it quite annoying.

But you made a mistake in step 3 - it should be "Hey, I'm new and can't make a gallery."

Useful guide!  smile  Sometimes it's very hard to tell what people mean - sometimes I understand them wrongly and get all confused.  sad

You might want to add this link as well in the BBCode section.  wink

Good Job! This should be a sticky. I remember when...

Anoymous Scratcher wrote:

This actually happened. I'm telling the truth! By the way, it translates to:
Hahaha! That rocks! I like that part when the Shoop Da Whoop fires his Laser! Lols I clicked love it

Error:Signature could not load. Please wait for an indefinite amount of time, until you realize you're gullible and go off to look for another potentially interesting signature to stare at.

Wow. That's pure 1337 speak. Maybe I should add a do and don't section...
