Size

I've been making a really big game that's over 10MB and of course I will want to upload it. I will delete a bunch of stuff to get it to 10MB, but I want to know how big each thing (sprite, sound, costume, etc) is. Could someone help?

Re: Size

Under each costume and sound, it says how big it is.

However, you can much more easily make your project of a lower file size by simply compressing the sounds or images under the "Edit" menu. Here's some information on what sound compression setting you should use: http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=2482. Compressing is a lot better than deleting in that you don't lose anything but some of the quality of your images and sounds - which is barely even noticeable  smile

Hope that helps!

Re: Size

Look at the costumes and you can see the size of each image individually. I would imagine that the sounds are about the same size in the project as they were before you added them.

tip: I use a free app (Irfanview) to optimize all my image sizes for use in Scratch

aka Pain from DragonSpires, Delrith Online, BotBattle, Urban Dead etc etc lol

Re: Size

You could upload it to another site such as media fire.

That loses a lot of the great features Scratch has such as front-page, comments, love-its... It's really hard to get feedback that way.

One way around is to upload it to your own site and add/use a built in comment system.

That's true, but it's still quite a bit harder to get people to view your project.

Advertise it on another project on scratch.

Advertise it on another project on scratch.

That project is still far less likely to get a spectacular amount of views than if the real project were uploaded. Also, not everybody who views that project will view the real project.

Maybe put a tiny demo on scratch and tell them to go to mysite.com and play the full version.

Re: Size

By the way the game is out. Compressing it got under 10MB.
