How does Scratch process Scripts?

This is something I've been wondering for a long time. I bet it has something to do with the 'Scratch-Execution Engine' thing in the browser. Does anyone know how it actually works though?

It uses ScratchStackFrame to store states, and ScratchProcess to run stuff.

That's a little less than I wanted, but I guess you're busy (building Blocks++ and all) so you can't spend much time answering questions...
