I recently got a featured project, and I got a ton of hate comments, almost as much as the nice ones. It was all 'Its too simple' and 'How does this get the front page?'
The front page is for diversity, not just amazingly programmed projects.
And there is nothing wrong with simplicity.
They say, 'how did it get views? all your other projects suck, so why does this one get views?'
Those ones really hurt my feelings for a while.
But, it got views because it was featured, I realised. Everyone looks at featured projects. And it got featured because the Scratch Team likes it!
So, may this be a lesson. Simplicity is not bad, and the front page is for diversity.
Discuss this, and I would like your opinion. Please answer this poll:

I thought your project was pretty cool....

I hate it when people do that! I mean, all projects are there for a reason. So I'll give you a "yes. It's perfect." It is simple, but in a good way. Featured projects are meant to be inspiring- the fact that your project is simple is good because it shows that it's not too hard to make really cool projects. Plus, it's an awesome idea. So it's perfect.

Thanks a lot! That means so much!

I liked it - it was something that not many people have made before, and it was fun to play around with ^^
I got quite a few hate comments when my SFT2 was featured, but people sometimes get jealous that other people are featured, I guess
Try ignoring/flagging the comments that are really bad (or, saying something like "How could I improve it?"). If you notice that your getting a lot of hate comments from one particular user, you might want to consider ignore-list'ing them...
My friend in real life got featured once, too (Andrew123456789 - Solar System Quiz), and he got the same type of "ur project is boring/pointless/too hard/easy" comments - I think it's the one bad part of being featured, I'm afraid

Yes, it is good.
Right now I'm tellin off the dude who was writing hate stuff 'bout you. Of course, in a way that is not hateful, just pointing out his mistakes that were not thought out.
I got one hate comment on my featured project, One Sprite One Script Beziers, and his argument was just plain dumb.
"this is rubbish, just watching some things move around but it was a little less complicated, try and make a better effort next time"
I mean, I don't even think the guy understood what this project even was!
Anyways, just don't let it get to you too much. If a project is featured, hate comments are irrelevant. There IS a reason that it was featured, and there always will be.

When my game got featured I rarely got any of those.
But when I did get one, I just deleted them really fast.

I never get any of my projects featured, so I can't relate to that, but I can because I tried to design papercrafts for some people, and they complained that they were too simple, or they didn't work and all that stuff. Just... I mean, really? I can sort of relate. It was a really good project!
Yes. It is perfect

I'm confused, what project? (Maybe you should add a link in your first post)

I never see it, featured is basically the primary school painting competition; the sucky ones always win.

You are just jealous that you can't get a featured project
Featured is basically the only consistient part of the frontpage. Featured projects are always good in some way, but the other ones are just there because some people have a following and their projects get frontpage regardless of what it is.
featured>top loved & the rest
And don't worry about hate comments, I get em too

That seems like a very mean-spirited thing to say - I'm quite disappointed with your response. And it is not true. Selection for the featured section of the front-page can be for a number of different reasons. Projects may be chosen because they might be inspirational to Scratchers with a certain level of experience...or because they teach an interesting thing...or simply because they help to demonstrate the diversity of people that make up the Scratch community. For more information about what gets featured please see this topic.
Projects made by very popular Scratchers tend not to be featured however, not because their projects aren't great, but because they tend to get their projects to the Front Page anyway

I got featured on bird jump, which was just something I did when I was board. Strangely, I only got a few bad comments. Anyway, I have been meaning to view your project, but I haven't yet.

I also like it. I could make something better but I'm too lazy.
I like and hate getting featured.
