archmage, U know how good I am at scratch, If you want my help just contact me somewhere in my profile
It's alright, the game will be 100% coded by myself. But if you have ideas or nice character art feel free to contribute.

My first post says I want original characters only. I think mushroom warfare would involve mario.

Its not a game but you can think of a game for them. You are very creative.

P.S. Plz put in a story mode! If you do, you can write it:).

Can I help. I can make good cutscenes in flash but I don't know how to make a game in flash. Could you maybe teach me how. I have the macromedia MX programs
It's cool that you want to learn flash action script. If you want I can make a forum post that teaches the basics of flash game creation.
Cool, thanks. If you want to see some of the flash animations I've made I'll post a link to the web page I made for school last year so you can see what I've done.

I might be getting the programs. I just gotta fix this one thing, make sure it works

I probably could help with level art (but not character art, because for some reason I completely suck at drawing characters). Here's an example of my work:
http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/6/6/1 … Sample.PNG
It needs a lot of work (more detail in the BG, some trenches/highlights in the checkerboard soil, etc.), but I just whipped this up in maybe 25 minutes so =P. Hope this is good enough; if it isn't I can make it better with the improvements above and re-post it.
I could also help a bit with programming, but odds are you wouldn't need that =P
S65 could I use that tileset? I'll give you credit.

Sure, it's not my best work anyway. =P
Also, I think there would several advantages of having some sort of private, organized forum set up for development. It would allow each of us to critique each other's work instead of just sending it to you, and we could set up topics/forums for Sound, Art, Level Design, etc. (Programming probably wouldn't be necessary, because you're going to be doing all of the programming here.) There would be absolutely no cost issue involved, because we could just get a basic invisionFree board and password-protect it where we only know the passwords.
An added benefit is that if the game becomes popular, we can open up the forums to the public as a kind of "Development Diary" thing, which will probably get even more publicity.

Archmage, I was wondering if you could do me a favor and try to figure out why in my legend of zelda game Link crouches after doing a full run cycle (switching through all the run costumes). I can't find out why it does it. Could you look at the scripts and try to fix it and maybe fix up some of my other sloppy coding? Thanks

Wait, are you doing something like this
[blocks]<forever>[/blocks]
[blocks]<next costume>[/blocks]
[blocks]<wait( .1 )secsc>[/blocks]
Of course, without the forever (maybe)

sortof like that but after a full cycle it acts like link was falling and he neels as if he was landing from a jump.

ok. It is driving me nuts. Do scratch games automatically come in Flash format? Or do you have to change it so it works in flash format ? if you have to change it, please tell me how to.
Offline
archmage, where are you? You haven't posted in this topic or on the forums in a while. Is school not out for you yet?
cheezygamez: No, they don't come in Flash format. They can play online with the Java player, and more information on that is in the FAQ section. If you want to turn a Scratch game into a Flash game, you'll have to manually re-code it in Actionscript yourself.

Coolstuff is right, I still have school.
Sorry I haven't been as active as I usually am. I haven't got the chance to use the internet a lot lately.

I have decided what game I am going to program. It is going to be a scrolling shooter and the game play will be similar to the game play in this flash game

Development of the engine will start tomorrow. Thanks to every who is helping me.
I'll be sure to upload the scratch project when I have made progress.

Are you going to use my idea of setting up a private message board?
Also, you aren't going to make this a Megaman-like platforming shooter? That would be fun to see in Scratch, IMO.

Yes, I am going to set up a site with a private forum and a chartroom.
Also, its not going to be a megaman like shooter but it will still involve shooting things.

Will it be as violent as the xclown killer game, or will you tone it down a little? Just wondering.

Probably won't have blood everywhere. You still have to shoot stuff.

Ok, I am going to make both a megaman type game and a clown killer type game just to see what people like better. I'll upload demos of both and then continue with the one people respond best to.
Offline
Okay that works. Yeah, I just thought that the clown killer was a bit bloody, especially for younger scratchers.
