I did an experiment with light/shadow in Gimp yesterday. Here's the image I created:

Do the lighting/shadow effects look pretty realistic?

The light and shadow are good, the texture looks kinda out of place and slightly flat.

The light and the shadow is perfect, the texture looks way too flat and kind of ruins the picture.

The shadow is a bit... sharp and as everyone else say, the texture looks flat.

It's not really my first picture, but it's my first picture that isn't a bunch of brush marks tongue .
