How to change your icon!
Hi, dianapo here and I'm just posting this so all you newbies at Scratch can learn how to change your icon! Here we goooooooo!!!!!!!
1: Got to this link and pick out an icon: http://photobucket.com/icons/
2: To select an icon, find a picture you like and right click it, select save and go back onto Scratch and click on your "My Stuff" page.
3: Look around your "Location:" area, you should see a link that says "Change Icon Picture", so click that. (click)
4: Once you've clicked on that, a little browser will pop up where you can find the icon you just got from PhotoBucket.
5: Select the icon you have selected from PhotoBucket and click "OK".
6: OK, you've selected your first icon file, now click on "Change icon" (located under the file notations).
7: It'll take a couple minutes for the picture to load onto Scratch as your icon.
Tah-Dah! You're done!
If you want to change your Gallery
icon, do the same!

One correction: The link to change the icon picture just says "change picture"

I know what you're thinking! "Neptune! Get rid of those filthy advertisements and give us back the Zarathustra siggy, you horrible person!" Well, don't worry about it, the Zara siggy will be back soon, new and improved! ^^ Meanwhile, just do what the sig tells you to. >.>Offline

To do a GIF animation for your icon, you'll need Photoshop. If you use a picture that is already animated, it'll be animated in Scratch. This is how to do a GIF animation: http://www.scratch.mit.edu/ext/youtube/?v=Z93Z1v5dypE

Just shrink down your icon in an art program, and then try using it - you shouldn't hit the size limit.

can i use a scatch project as my icon? i have one (not posted) that is just a pic of phineas and ferb that says "i know what we're gonna do today" that changes color.

Photoshop costs money. You can also make one in GIMP 
I created my current user icon with GIMP, it's easy as 1-2-3-4-5 (

Yes, I have GIMP but I haven't used it much yet in the fact I haven't gotten to making my Icon animated.
