Cancer comes from the Latin (or Greek?) word for crab. The disease is called cancer because when a doctor found the first recorded case of cancer, it looked like crabs: lumps with veins sticking out. The name stuck. (Useless trivia FTW!)

But yes, it considerable changes with sources. I use my astrology books, but you can look up a bunch of sites and they'll give you different ones.
