Jens is a man? They probably would do this if they had the people willing to do it.

andresmh can speak spanish, so the spanish ones have also a moderator.
Don't know of the other languages though...
I speak French - not sure how well, though! I'm not sure about the other mods... I think I saw coolstuff speaking French once

I can speak French - not very well, but I can understand what goes on down there without having to use a translator, and I can moderate that forum with some degree of effectiveness. I probably sound stupid to them, but as long as they understand me, that's okay.
Of course, you can also speak French. I actually noticed a bit of a fight going on in the French forum the other day

I can speak some japanese, but not a moderator, so I guess it doesn't count

I did Recently see a person giving away their e-mail in a Chinese thread, so I got out Google Translate and told them about it...

Well, I would like to see some more international moderators... Actually, quite a few of them are already international - there's some from Canada (ME!), Russia (MRN), and Belgium (? JSO) already.
So I guess they could moderate their respective forums, except I don't speak French all that well So I would like to see some moderators who are fluent in those languages to moderate those forums.

Moderators can always use a translator... it might not be perfect, but it should work well enough for them to get an idea of what's going on.
For using a translator, Google Chrome can detect if the page you're viewing is in a foreign language or not - if it is, it'll ask you if you want to translate the page. Chrome translates the actual page, not just some text - so you get to see the page in a different language.

Yeah. IE and Firefox do that too.

I never saw a translator thing on them...

Funny you should talk about this when there was a debate on whether or not to use a translator for different forum languages. You can check it out here if you want:
Translating For Use in Forums.
But other then that, I'm all for the idea. I've already started slightly, but I only use it when a question has been unresolved and I try to limit what i say-these translators aren't always accurate!

I guess I don't really check out those forums that much, but I'd use a translator if I wanted to figure out what was happening. Half of them aren't too active, but some like Spanish, French, and German are respectively active, but it does sound like we do have some bi-lingual members here, like Jens, Andres, and it sounds like Wolfie'96 knows some French...

This is my extent of French and German
Bonjour - (Hello in French)
Ya - (Yes in German)
But, I'm pretty good at figuring out Spanish. It's a required class in my school
