Scratch projects aren't working.

Okay, I switched my version of Java because Andresmh suggested it in the FAQ forums... but now I can't see any Java applets -- even after trying to switch back...

HELP!

Ps I have a mac if that helps/

Re: Scratch projects aren't working.

Thanks! But for some reason, I switched to and from 4.10 or whatever to 5.0, and I can still play games in Safari (I know it's a horrible browser)

I notcied that too! Do we need to keep switching every now and then to different Java versions?

Re: Scratch projects aren't working.

I think what is happening is that your Java Virtual Machine has cached the IP resolution of scratch.mit.edu to the old IP (18.85.13.74). Last we had we the same problem and we had to turn on TCP/IP redirection from 18.85.13.74 port 80 to 18.85.13.67. Today we decided it was time to turn off the redirection and let browsers follow the DNS change and go to the new IP. However seems like JVM doesn't update its DNS cache even after rebooting.

I'm trying to figure out how to best solve this issue...

Re: Scratch projects aren't working.

I have the same problem, it happens once a week, and it goes away the next day. I ignore it.

Re: Scratch projects aren't working.

Okay, I *think* I found something strange, but it isn't a solution to the problem. It's just someting odd.

Going to the http:// version of the webpage has absolutely no effect, with just a red X.

Going to the https:// version of the webpage makes the project look like it's been removed. Strange, huh?
