Question about Blender 3D

I just downloaded Blender today for my PC, and it told me that some scripts would not run unless I downloaded Python. I started using it without downloading Python, and it worked fine until I tried to edit textures. So my question is this: do you need Python downloaded on your computer to be able to use all of Blender's features?

Yes, Blender is programmed in Python.

Don't get version 3.0 of Python, get 2.6
Otherwise, it won't work

That's good to know. Good thing I haven't downloaded it yet; I would've downloaded 3.0
