another demo - 3d effect in a side scrolling fighting game

This is a demo that uses over-sized background sprites scrolling at different speeds to create an old-school 3d effect. Like in Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat, etc, one on one fighting games.

get it here

ps. obviously taking a break from my Pacman clone  smile

Cool effect! It might also be possible to set a standard formula for how fast each background sprite scrolls by its y value: sprites with a high y value (far in the back) would move slower than ones with low y values (closer to the cat).

Yep, I tried that but it didn't work as easily as I thought it would but you are absolutely correct. When I use this, I will have cloud layers, fences, etc along with cool animations and sprites that interact with the background.
