Some, may argue that there is too much room for signatures... especially the large banners.      I think I know what you mean though, we only have 400 characters to type.

If you want to make your links shorter so you can put more of them, try a service like  shorturl.com or http://notlong.com/

It can turn:
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/nicolasx/178821
into:
http://iulae.notlong.com/

(Notlong is a cool because you can customize the link if it's available and it keeps track of clicks.)

Also I noticed the link in your banner goes to:
http://www.mybannermaker.com/link.php? nurl=http%3A%2F%2Fscratch.mit.edu%2Fusers%2Fnicolasx
That's using many of your available letters, and it makes a huge banner at the top.

You could shorten that to:
http://scratch.mit.edu/users/nicolasx

And even further using notlong.com:
http://oyoogo.notlong.com/

Bluestribute, you're right, you can't change the image link.
nicolasx has the link "my free banner" gives you, which adds a huge banner at top when clicked.

the url= part can be whatever you want, the "http://www.mybannermaker.com/link.php?nurl=" is the part that adds the huge unnecessary banner.  Just change that whole url= to whatever link you want to use.

[url=http://www.mybannermaker.com/link.php?nurl=http%3A%2F%2Fscratch.mit.edu%2Fusers%2FAddZero][img]http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/1079/mybannerglittera5facbd3hd6.gif[/img][/url]

that does this:  (notice the huge banner at top when clicked.)



changed to:

or to save more room, do like Bluestribute and get rid of the link:
