My Ideas.

I haven't been using Scratch much, especially ScratchR, but I have some ideas.

For Scratch:

Sprite parenting: Basically connecting sprites, so that one moves, they all move. This can be achieved via programming, but this would be so much easier.

Full GIF support: When you put an animated gif in scratch, it imports all the individual frames in to a sprite. I think It should just treat it like a whole image, and there could be a button or menu option to convert to frame by frame animation, like there is in Flash.

Frame-by-frame animation. The option to animate sprites frame by frame as opposed to using the "glide to" block.

For ScratchR:

Related projects: Like on Youtube. Shows possibly related projects in the sidebar.

Ratings: This has come up as a suggestion before. The argument against it is that people would be sad if their project was rated down. I say: If you made a bad project you should be told, so you no what not to put up.

Remove comment: You should be able to remove your own comments from others projects. Enough said.

Hope you take these into consideration.

Re: My Ideas.

Sprite Parenting is a really good idea, I'd like to see it implemented too.

Re: My Ideas.

Sprite Parenting sounds like a great idea  smile

I'm not sure about the GIF support - how would an animated GIF work as a single costume? It puzzles me...  hmm

Frame-by-frame animation might be a little bit difficult to implement... How do you think it would work? Also, newer users might find it harder to understand. I think, considering Scratch was intended as a programming language, not an animation program (please take no offense on that comment; I have nothing against animations), it might kind of take the focus off of programming.

Related Projects was already suggested... By me! Here's the thread.

Ratings: You mentioned your argument against it, and that's the argument we're sticking to. For now, you'll have to make do. Plus, if somebody gets rated down, they're going to quit Scratch, not try to improve, especially as kids. We already get a semi-rating system with the Love-It button, though that is also kind of dependent on the number of views you get. You can get a rough estimation on the reception of a project by dividing the views by the love-its, though.

We should definitely be able to remove our own comments... I wonder why it's not already implemented?  hmm

Great suggestions, though! Keep 'em coming!

Quit being modest! You have 152 projects  big_smile

I like all of these suggestions (although I agree with coolstuff on the ratings one). The FbF animation seems a little vague, though. Are you suggesting a sort of sprite timeline?
