Use color coding and symbols for different kinds of blocks.

The color coding of each category of blocks is fantastic except when you want to create how-to sheets economically.  Right now, the only way to have really readable help handouts is to print them in color.  If each category of blocks could be modified in appearance to have both a color and a subtle symbol somewhere on the block, then a black and white photocopy could be used without worry of losing valuable visual cues.

Oh, this makes sense.

Maybe you could color the photocopies with a marker...?

Sorry. I'm not a scratch team member, but I support  wink

This would be cool - but you can always just memorize the shape and text of each block.  tongue

I support.  smile

Yeah, this would definitely be of great use to somebody who was, say, teaching a class with Scratch and had to make handouts. Maybe the option to print might also come in handy!

This perhaps could also be useful for colorblind people.
I agree that it should be a "subtle symbol"-
The blocks are already shaped symbols.

(Another idea: Put your handouts in a scratch program or on a webpage.)

Why can't you just look at the shape and text of the blocks?  hmm

"Most people", but not new Scratchers  smile . And, if you're teaching Scratch to a class, there's probably going to be at least 1 - 2 students that don't know where everything is.

I agree with this since it would be quite helpful, but maybe the symbols could be turned on and off by a menu? Since it could be confusing/annoying for some older Scratchers  tongue
