Violent video games and programs do make people more violent.

Any Studies that arent biased? Any studies AT ALL? give us PROOF and we might belive it.
if you go around shooting you're mouth off with out any good proof you might as well walk around with a bell and a sign that says "Yell at me" Also, i have played some violent-ish video games and i HATE fighting. also, please tell me you arent one of those people who thinks playing some Mario will make you go on a homicidal rampage.

I did give you proof: Studies have shown ( Paul Ekman's studies) that little children who watched a violent program, (it was actually Tom and Jerry) and were then taken into a room and left there for a few minutes, were more violent to a doll that was hanging from the roof (or something like that) than those who didn't watch it.

I reject your reality, and substitute it with my own! (Mine being the real one) Okay, so LITTLE kids. Sure. THAT is when they are impressionable. ANY parent would not let their THREE YEAR OLD play GTAIV. But what about, Say, More mature children? Like ME?

It's an argument. You state your own viewpoint. Not everyone has to agree with you. Steppenwulf is merely presenting hi side of the story.

Fixed it for you. And yea if they banned violence in video games, I would litteraly raid gamestop, and then hold a public strike around Microsoft HQ. I'm a very gentle person though  tongue

Actually, Paul Ekman is a psychologist, not a psychiatrist.

Forget about the stupid Paul Ekman [removed]. In some cases, it's true, and in some it's not. Take Call of Duty, for example. One of the best selling games ever, and very violent. Yet, most (the sane) people are perfectly fine. Nothing is wrong with violence. It's a way of life. We can't do anything about it. We have to deal with it. [/rant]

Oh really? Have you got a degree in psychology and done tests with vast amounts of people of all different ages, gender and race to actually see if your hypothesis is true?

Re: What is violence?

violence is  obviously a bad thing.I guess you can play violent games or watch shows as long as you know when you have gone too far.   In the 60', The blood in the arcade games were turned to green to make it look less violent...but obviously, that didnt exactly make much of a  difference

Re: What is violence?

You know what annoys me so much? That almost whenever a child does something bad, SOMEONE SOMEWHERE will blame Video Games. It just happens. Why? Even if the situation had not much to do with games they are blamed.

Yes, but those people just have no common sense. I play violent videogames all of the time, and I'm a very nice person.

Yes people have played GTA and have went to violence, but those people clearly are not right mentally. I don't think that because of a few crazy people I should doing something I enjoy and can control.

Anyway, I respect your opinion.

yea i mean if people see that you get arrested and die in the game why would they go off doing it in real life and anyway ITS JUST A GAME people should know yea you play violent video games but in real life its different exit the game life and into reality in a game you you dont get hurt but you in the game does dont hurt yourself in real life it hurts and people should know that a game is an imagination like a violent game people should know a game is a game and life is life 2 different things there is no infinite life cheat in real life lol

Re: What is violence?

1. In fallout 2 I love taking a shotgun, and blowing peoples ribs out.
2. In GTA IV I love randoly punching people off buildings
3. In GMOD I shoot to kill
4. TF2 explosives make body parts fly like space ships
5. In S.T.A.L.K.E.R Doggy go pew pew
6. In Postal 2. Kitty go on shotgun fo fun
7. In mount and blade I stab my sword through them
8. In left 4 dead 2... You know what I'm getting at
9. In zombie driver I they go splat on my tires.
I play all these, and am I mental? Do I do all these things? No. Listen Video games are soley made for the entertainment of others. I betcha you didn't know that the "Blood", and "Violence" you all hate Is just a bunch of letters, and words joined together to make pixels, and scripts. So are we shooting real people or letters, and numbers? It's a simulation, not a school shooting.
