This ability is basically to delete posts by others in your own topic. Also, you should be able to close your own topics. A good example of this feature in need is that a troll attacked my collab: Toki Mystery Dungeon. If this is possible, please add this as a feature.

As much as I like this idea, I think it could also be abused by the wrong people .
For example, a troll could create a topic and wait for a poster. And then edit every post into something inappropriate or spam, or delete everyone's posts...
I think the current moderators are doing a great job too at the moment, considering the recent attacks .

^ This I would support xD
It would be easier to close your own topic if things went crazy/you didn't need it anymore rather than having to send in a report.

No post-editing and the actions would be approved/disapproved by the moderators.

Hmm... I don't know whether this is a good idea or not... On one hand, people could keep their own topics spam-free, which would mean less work for us mods (not that we mind helping)... but, on the other hand, if a person was, let's say, a commercial spammer, the person who self moderated their post would only be able to delete the post - instead of banning them... And then, a spammer could go and spam without getting banned for it - if no mods saw the posts... And if we gave members the power to ban one another, so that no spammer went unbanned, then what could happen? I can imagine things like this happening:

I don't agree with you there, PersonB. For example, we could improve your idea by adding X...

PersonA is sooooo mean for not agreeing with me. I know, I'll ban him - then he'll learn to respect me!

If there were a suggestion with plenty of supporters and non-supporters, the suggester could delete all the disagreeing posts.
+1 on what was said above.

Overall, I like the idea, however deleting others' posts isn't something that most Scratchers should be able to do, as it can be easily abused. I do like the idea of self-closing your own articles though!

Yeah - a lot of people often get their topics closed at request. And there can't be any abuse of closing topics, right?
Reopening topics would be scary, though... if a moderator closed your topic because it was bad, you could always reopen it. Hey, maybe you could open the topic if you closed it yourself, and the option wouldn't be there if a moderator closed it? Hmmmm...

I think the only real plausible self-moderation not open to abuse is closing your own topics... And even that is probably not going to happen because it would require some pretty large-scale changes to the source code of these here forums.

The Scratch Forum is an open discussion enviroment. I'm afraid the option to delete other's posts on your topics might be a slight disruption of freedom on the Forums. Topics shouldn't be treated as private property.

What if you could just hide posts? That way spammers could be caught because the spam existed but no one could would be able to see it, unless they clicked a Show button.

Hm... I don't quite get what you're getting at. Do you mean you want a sort of way to collapse posts? I don't see how that would help all that much.

Well on some websites if a comment gets rated down enough it is hidden so no one automatically sees it but if they click a button they can see it. If the forums had this a person could hide spam but then a moderator could still see the evidence and ban the person.

I'm not sure whether this is implementable on the Forums, I'd love to see that on the main site though.

I think that you should not be able to edit your topics as you would like to.
For example if you could edit this topic you could remove all topics that are against your suggestion, and thereby it will look like everyone agrees.
