And a tip for the freezing, some of those cloud brushes are huge they are set to 100% size, GIMP can freeze up if the brushes are enormous when you click them. So before you click a cloud brush make sure the size is set way down.

And make sure to save every once in a while. You'll never know when the computer decides "I'm going to randomly freeze for no reason just to annoy my owner. hahaha!"

BTW you can just take the pic out of that screenshot, up the contrast, lower the brightness and hey presto, old image.

That's sad. I always heard that GIMP freezes, but I use it anyway, try rebooting & re-downloading the software. if that doesn't work, just forget about it. There are many different image editing softwares out there.
