The chatroom won't happen: http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=6992, and the forums serve a good enough purpose for helping others.
I'm not sure what you mean in your first suggestion... Care to elaborate?

Sadly, I know it won't happen, but I have 1 reason the chat would be a good idea...
Collaborations!
When collaborations are in progress, a big problem emerges: communication. Due to the sixty second rule we can't report exactly when something happens, and because of many rules, we can't use the forums to tell exactly what we are doing (Blog-like) I know most collaborations use the forums anyway and are successful, some technical errors in collaboration can resolved.

Actually, I'm in the process of making a website called ScratchLabs which is especially for Scratch collaborations I'm hand-coding it all, so it was designed especially for Scratch, meaning it's really easy to use and human-friendly

I like the idea of working at the same time, but the implementation of that sounds like a very difficult task to complete. Collaboration is all about working together, but the problem is that there needs to be a safe way to communicate. Hopefully we can get some genius ideas of collaboration, so we can enjoy that feature in the future. Also I can't wait to see what Scratch Labs will have to offer! Thanks for working on that, coolstuff, and I hope you continue!
