We have a slightly different age rating system in the UK, but it's practically the same with the letters replaced with numbers 

But personally I never really liked Halo, call of Duty etc: but I can understand why some games, but not all of them, get their ratings (slightly..)

In fact the only game I've actually had my Mum buy for me was the new Final Fantasy    I'm 14 (nearly 15) and it's a 16+...

Maybe it's because you're doing illegal things, like stealing cars and running away from the police. Also, I once saw a Tony Hawk game that was rated 12+ ( or 15+, I don't remember) and the only reason was because of "anti-social behavior".

Need for Speed is rated "T" (what ever that is) because it involves street racing, which is illegal.

EDIT: his excuse every time: "who cares, it's really not that bad." he says i should be able to play it when blood is turned off(i don't know if it's like that in COD, he has a ton of 'rated M' games). he doesn't get the fact that it's not just the blood, but the people dying.

A rated M game = Not my type of game. I hate gory games. Even though I'm a boy, I hate war games and thug games (yes, I know. gasp gasp). For me, the meaning of "hardcore" isn't an extremely violent and bloody game, it's games like the legend of zelda or the overlooked game, "little king's story". For me, M games aren't very fun (unless I'm fooling around with Halo 3 at my friend's house, setting up grenades methodically for hilarious results).

Rated "M" games can traumatize a kid for life. I bought "Fallout 3" just yesterday. Im surprised to see that some kids of the age of 6 play these games. It just dosent seem right. "M" means mature. What does that mean to you?

It's funny. Years ago your parents would buy whatever game you begged for. Now when they see a T game they go "Theirs probably blood, and seual content in this game everywhere." "Mom look at the back it tells you what's in it" "It's still probably in there" But my parents aren't * so I can play whatever game I want really.

To me it means lock the door if your playing it and your parents are home, lol.

When a game is rated M, despite what the box says, the age of the person who plays it doesn't matter, as long as they are mature enough to seperate fantasy from reality.  For example, an immature 10 year old could become addicted to Half Life or Call of Duty, and think "Killing people is easy and fun!  You just shoot them, and they fall over."  But a mature 10 year old would probably think the opposite.

Some of them are unfairly rated. Some M-rated games have minimal amounts of blood, violence, inappropriate references, and other stuff. I am aware of that. I also agree that parents should restrict and allow the availability of such video games to their children, based on their knowledge of the content. But some parents don't care--they let their children have anything, if they buy it with their own money or something. And there is bad stuff in some games. Violent stuff. Inappropriate stuff.

Plus, I know this idiot who spends all his time playing video games, lets his parents do his homework, and doesn't care about school. I see him around making random gun noises like "GCHGCHGCHGCH" all the time. He's a real idiot. I guess that's the effect of violent addictive stuff. That's just a warning to y'all children. Good day.
