I hate to burst you bubble, but it's impossible for someone of your experience to create a full Pokémon game in Scratch. Even the best programmers on the site couldn't do it.
No offense meant.

That's not my point. Tons of users, especially new ones, have tried this, and then ask for a whole group of members and without any experience whatsoever, say that they will make the best pokemon game on Scratch. It just won't work. Scratch will crash from all those sprites. Sure, if Scratch had sprite duplication, instances, and was a lot stronger, you MIGHT be able too. But it doesn't. You'll find out yourself soon enough.

My team and I are going to make it in parts and the animations don't need to be the best

Like what, one music-less city in each project?

no like the trainer won't look like its walking

Look scratch isn't powerful enough, I tried and it was quite a good engine i had made, it had 4 way scrolling saving and quite a lot of other features but it just went really slow and crashed.
Maybe when scratch 2.0comes out it might work.

I won't do scrolling, the map will switch based on arrows so stop bugging me about this

Yea... nothing like this has actually worked... The closest we've gotten is probably TheSaint or Bluestribute.

This.
And if you want to make your OWN pokemon game, you and your team can go hack a game. Like, hack fire red and make your own game. For example, theres rijonAdventures. A hack of fire red made into a totally different region. More info on Pokecommunity or google on how to hack. Don't use Scratch. It wont work. Trust me.

I don't hack games

Mooster, I'm sorry, but a game of the scale of Pokemon simply won't work on a programming medium such as Scratch. It's simply not powerful enough. For instance, the game cannot store the variables for saving, if you want to quit and turn it back on.
Even if you attempted to do it in parts, how would one part be able to import your trainer and Pokemon etc., exactly the same as they were in the previous part?

I have added saving to a game before but I used a code so basically once something happened you got a new save code so can everyone stop posting how it won't work and just post trainer ideas on this forum

Did that game have the myriad variables that Pokemon does? To effectively have a savegame, you need all of this data:
- Trainers Location
- All Bag Items
- Trainer Card Info (Number of badges, time played etc.)
- Pokemon Party Data (This includes type of Pokemon, level, experience, stats, moveset)
- All the Pokemon in the PC
- Events Activated
- Pokedex Data
Your code system cannot work. It would need an infinite number of different save codes to represent different states of the game, as basically no two save files are the same. The Pokemon games have each of these a set of variables which are overwritten every time you save. Scratch can't do this, so it is basically impossible to create a Pokemon game with any level of depth to it. Everyone is telling you that it won't work for a reason. It's not casting aspersions on your programming skills, as we would tell Archmage and RHY it is impossible as well. It's only an attempt to save you from attempting an impossible task.

yea, but some one can make up a code that leads the to the elite 4 (talking to mooster)
